SINGAPORE, 1 March 2025 –  The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, led by Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig, Philippine Governor for Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), joined the inaugural Asia-Europe Friendship Walk: Footsteps for Greener Asia-Europe Connections organized by the ASEF Secretariat this morning. The friendship walk was organized in celebration of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Day on the 1st day of March and as part of the 28th anniversary of ASEF on 15 February 2025. 

An estimated 100 representatives of Asian and European member states participated in the friendship walk, including the ASEF Secretariat. The participants gathered at the Asian Civilisations Museum, the starting point of the friendship walk, and headed towards the  Anderson Bridge, Merlion, Marina Bay Financial Centre and at the Marina Bay Sands where the walk ended.

The Philippine Embassy personnel from various sections and agencies including the Migrant Workers Office-Singapore and the Office of Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché, actively participated in the event which included a short quiz about the organization.  

Ambassador Macariag expressed appreciation to the ASEF Secretariat for organizing the inaugural friendship walk and the excellent arrangements. 

Embassy personnel were happy to be part of the Asia-Europe Friendship Walk in support of the environment and sustainability. The Philippines, as a member of ASEM,  has been supportive of ASEF and its mandate to promote better mutual understanding between Asia and Europe through intellectual, cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
