PRESS RELEASE | PR-314-2025

Singapore, 10 December 2025 — The Philippine Embassy in Singapore intensified its support for the country’s creative industries through a series of high-level engagements at the Singapore Media Festival (SMF) 2025, Asia’s leading gathering for film, television, animation, and digital media professionals.

The Embassy joined regional and global industry leaders at the opening of the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) 2025, where discussions focused on digital innovation, co-production opportunities, and Southeast Asia’s expanding media landscape. Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How underscored the importance of collaboration in shaping the region’s creative future.

A key achievement for the Philippines in the SMF was the launch of its first national pavilion at the ATF, led by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP). Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig led the Embassy in meeting with Filipino studios and producers showcasing new television, film, and animation projects, and affirmed the Embassy’s role in connecting creators with Singapore-based and international partners. The Pavilion drew strong interest from industry executives exploring content acquisitions and cross-border partnerships.

The Embassy also supported the Philippines’ participation in the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF). FDCP and SGIFF organizers co-hosted the SGIFF Philippine Cinema Networking Night at Mars Bar, bringing together local filmmakers and members of the Philippine delegation to explore regional collaboration. In his remarks at the Networking Night, Ambassador Macaraig highlighted the strong potential of Philippine cinema in Southeast Asia and encouraged broader partnerships in film development, distribution, and co-production.

Filipino creators likewise made their mark across other SMF events. Philippine entries competed in several programmes of the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), while Philippine productions earned distinctions in the Asian Creative Awards and ATF x TTB Animation Lab and Pitch.

At Singapore Comic Con, Komiket and independent artists introduced Filipino komiks and romance titles to wider Southeast Asian audiences. Throughout the Festival, the Embassy also held coordination meetings with FDCP and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Singapore (PTIC-Singapore) to align initiatives, strengthen policy support, and expand market access for Filipino creative enterprises.

The Embassy’s engagement in SMF 2025 reaffirms the Philippines’ commitment to advancing cultural diplomacy, supporting the creative economy, and promoting Filipino talent in the global media landscape. END
