PRESS RELEASE | PR-318-2025
12 December 2025, Singapore – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore formally launched its online Gender and Development (GAD) Corner as part of the Embassy’s activities commemorating the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), observed annually from 25 November to 12 December. The initiative enhances the Embassy’s sustained commitment to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls. It also supports the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Memorandum Circular No. 2025-05, which directs government agencies to establish accessible GAD corners, in both physical and digital platforms, to promote transparency, accountability, and public awareness on GAD issues.
The online GAD Corner features key informational elements including gender policies, relevant Philippine laws, educational and awareness-raising resources, Embassy GAD programs and related activities, and links to services and support resources for women and survivors of gender-based violence. It is accessible via the Embassy’s official website at https://www.philippine-embassy.org.sg/gender-and-development.
The online GAD Corner is envisioned to be a central repository of gender-responsive information, resources, and advocacy materials designed to inform, educate, and engage the Filipino community in Singapore and stakeholders on gender equality and women’s rights. To this end, the Embassy will continue improving the Corner, with additional features and resources to be added in the coming months to further enhance its functionality and relevance to the Filipino community.
In his message, Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig underscored the strategic importance of the GAD Corner in reinforcing the Embassy’s role in advocating for gender equality abroad. “The establishment of our online GAD Corner demonstrates the Embassy’s proactive approach to advancing gender issues in keeping with national policy and international commitments,” Ambassador Macaraig said. “This initiative complements our GAD mandates by amplifying access to vital information, strengthening community engagement, and supporting victims of violence wherever they are.”
The Embassy encourages all members of the public to visit the online GAD Corner and participate in its GAD-related activities. (END)
