PRESS RELEASE | PR-010-2026
The Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore supports and celebrates the vibrant contributions of Filipino and Philippine-inspired artists at the upcoming Singapore Art Week 2026 (22-31 January 2026), highlighting three standout exhibitions that showcase contemporary creativity, cultural depth, and artistic innovation.
Isang Dipang Langit: Fragments of Memory, Fields of Now
Supported by the Philippine Embassy in collaboration with the National Arts Council Singapore and The Columns Gallery, Isang Dipang Langit opens as a landmark group exhibition of Philippine contemporary art at Tanjong Pagar Distripark (39 Keppel Road #01-02) from 20 to 31 January 2026 (10 AM–7 PM, extended hours on 24 January until 9 PM).
Curated by Dong Jo Chang, the show draws from Amado V. Hernandez’s poem to explore memory, displacement, and resilience through works by ten acclaimed Filipino artists including Oca Villamiel, Pete Jimenez, Alfredo & Isabel Aquilizan, Elaine Navas, Manuel Ocampo, Dominic Mangila, Russ Ligtas, Eisa Jocson, and Leeroy New—featuring installations, sculptures, paintings, film, and performances.
Free admission; media preview on 19 January (3 PM) and opening reception on 23 January (6–10 PM).
Pancho Piano’s Allure
Filipino master artist Pancho Piano presents his first solo exhibition in Singapore, “Pancho Piano’s Allure”, during SG Art Week, celebrating his decades-long career with over 150 works inspired by Bicolano heritage and natural motifs.
Pancho Piano has become a prominent figure in the Philippine art scene, representing the country in numerous national and international exhibitions. Piano’s works range from realistic oil paintings, such as his Daragang Magayon series, to abstract art, and his liturgical stained glass designs can be found in churches across the Philippines and abroad.
This showcase at a prominent venue underscores Piano’s international acclaim and adds a distinctly Filipino narrative to Singapore’s art scene.
Whispers of Summer Forests
At Gillman Barracks (22 Lock Road #01-35), the Columns Gallery will host “Whispers of Summer Forests”, a solo exhibition by Korean artist Whee Cha-Delgado (17 January–28 February 2026, Tue–Sat 11 AM–7 PM), featuring lyrical abstract paintings evoking natural serenity—running alongside Isang Dipang Langit as part of the gallery’s 2026 program.
Wonhee “Whee” Cha is the wife of Rashid Delgado, son of Helen Magsaysay Ho Delgado and Robbie Delgado. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2007 and later earned a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Seoul National University.
The Embassy will also host (by invitation only) the Singapore leg of the book launch for Sensible Forms: Essays by Dr. Patrick Flores on 21 January 2026, following its international debut at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2025. In his book, Dr. Patrick Flores, Chief Curator at the National Gallery Singapore and concurrent Professor of Art Studies at the University of the Philippines Diliman, and a preeminent Southeast Asian art historian, presents incisive essays that illuminate Philippine visual culture, transcultural exchanges, and modern art discourses.
The Embassy invites art enthusiasts, the Filipino community, and the public to experience these events, which reflect the enduring spirit of Philippine creativity. For more details:
