PRESS RELEASE | PR-165-2026

Singapore, 28 May 2026 — The Philippine Embassy in Singapore joins the observance of National Flag Days from 28 May to 12 June 2026, in accordance with Executive Order No. 179 and Republic Act No. 8491, or the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines.

Did you know? The annual observance commemorates the first unfurling of the Philippine flag following the Philippine Revolutionary Army’s victory during the Battle of Alapan in Imus, Cavite on 28 May 1898, leading to the proclamation of Philippine Independence on 12 June 1898.

The Philippine flag continues to symbolize unity, resilience, freedom, and love of country, especially for kababayans living and working abroad. As we begin the celebration of Philippine Independence Month, the Embassy encourages our kababayans in Singapore to proudly celebrate our shared identity, heritage, and achievements as a people.

The Embassy likewise recognizes the invaluable contributions of the Filipino community in Singapore, whose excellence, professionalism, creativity, and dedication continue to strengthen the longstanding friendship and people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Singapore.

In celebration of Philippine National Flag Days and the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the Embassy invites the Filipino community and friends of the Philippines to participate in its commemorative and cultural activities throughout the month of June, including its Tuloy Po Kayo guided tour. More details on upcoming activities will be shared through the Embassy’s official platforms in the coming days.

The Embassy also encourages the proper and respectful display of the Philippine flag in accordance with the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines and applicable host government regulations.
