PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN SINGAPORE CONCLUDES HISTORIC FIRST OVERSEAS INTERNET VOTING FOR NATIONAL ELECTIONS

SINGAPORE, 12 May 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore marks the successful conclusion of the country’s historic first overseas internet voting for national elections. Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig extends his heartfelt appreciation to the Filipino community in Singapore for participating in the first ever Philippine Overseas Online Voting, held from 13 April 2025 to 12 May 2025.

For the 2025 overseas voting in Singapore, a total of 21,976 voters, out of a total of 67,877 registered Filipino voters in Singapore participated in the overseas voting, translating to a voter turnout rate of 32.38%.

This is the first time that the Philippines implemented an internet voting/online voting for its overseas voters.

Ambassador Macaraig commended the officers and staff of the Embassy and its attached agencies who were deputized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to serve as members of its electoral boards, namely, the Special Board of Canvassers (SBOC), the Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEIs), and the Special Ballot Reception and Custody Group (SBRCG), as well as other support staff for their unrelenting service and dedication to perform their election-related duties on top of their regular workload, for thirty (30) continuous days, including weekends and public holidays.

Pursuant to COMELEC Resolution No. 10181, the Certificate of Canvass will be posted at the Embassy’s Consular Section for the public’s viewing.
