PRESS RELEASE | PR-215-2026
Singapore, 3 July 2026 – The newly redeveloped Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore has been awarded the Singapore Good Design (SG Mark) 2026 in the Architecture category – a recognition of its design that combines cultural identity, functionality, and public value.
The project, designed by ACO Architects LLP and developed by Faithful Ventures E&C Pte. Ltd., incorporates Filipino artistic and cultural elements throughout the building.
Inspired by the traditional Bahay Kubo, the new chancery reinterprets Filipino heritage through contemporary architecture. Its design reflects the dual role of an embassy: to provide service while being a testament of the nation’s culture, warmth, and community spirit.
“The Philippine Embassy is deeply honored to receive this prestigious recognition for the Philippines in Singapore,” said Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig. “I commend ACO Architects and Faithful Ventures, our partners, for their creativity and dedication, and express gratitude to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for its steadfast support in turning our vision into reality”.
Launched in 2013 by the Design Business Chamber Singapore in partnership with the Japan Institute of Design Promotion, the SG Mark is widely regarded as Southeast Asia’s premier design award and serves as a benchmark for exceptional design quality that creates meaningful impact for businesses and communities. Entries are assessed on four criteria: empathy, ethics and sustainability, inspiration, and value creation.
ACO Architects LLP submitted the Embassy project as its entry in January 2026 following the call for entries. According to the organizers, this year recorded the highest number of submissions to date.
Winners, including ACO Architects LLP as the Embassy project designer, will be honored at a gala dinner on 10 September 2026, following a public exhibition at Funan Mall from 7 to 13 September.
The recognition affirms the Embassy’s role not only as a center of diplomatic service but also as a symbol of Filipino creativity, warmth, and community spirit. / END.
