PRESS RELEASE | PR-144-2025

Singapore, 11 June 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore and Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy Hotel formally launched the latest edition of the Filipino Food Buffet at Feast Asia on 09 June 2025, in celebration of the 127th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence.
The buffet, aptly themed “Islands’ Symphony on Your Plate,” offers a curated culinary journey through the rich and diverse regions of the Philippines. Softly launched on 06 June, the 10-day buffet showcase will run until 15 June.
The Grand Opening dinner, graced by Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig as guest of honor, brought together 90 guests, including Ambassadors and Heads of Missions of Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Timor Leste and Myanmar. Also in attendance were leaders of the Filipino community, local content creators, media, and locals.
The evening began with a cocktail reception, followed by a special VIP tour of a Filipino pop-up bazaar, which showcases a vibrant selection of homegrown products and artisanal crafts. Participating Filipino entrepreneurs and brands include Happyserv, Maison Inabel, Prime Food Marketing, Filshopper SG, and My Fair Artisan. Guests delightfully sampled Philippine coffee, gourmet delicacies, handwoven textiles, and fashion pieces that highlight Filipino creativity and innovation.
During weekends, a special booth by KJEM Brilliant Kidz Academy, offering interactive Philippine-themed activities for children and the young at heart, is likewise offered.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig thanked Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore for its continued partnership and emphasized the importance of celebrating Filipino culture through its culinary heritage saying, “It brings me great pride to see our cuisine gaining recognition and appreciation here in Singapore, and even more so to share it with our friends from the diplomatic community and our fellow Filipinos here in Singapore.”
During the dinner, Ambassador Macaraig also serenaded the audience with three songs: two in tribute to Filipino music legends and one Spanish classic, in honor of his Spanish-speaking guests. Later in the evening, members of the Filipino community joined in through an impromptu “open mic”, creating a festive atmosphere typical of Filipino gatherings.
At the Opening Programme, remarks were also delivered by Ms. Priscilla Ng, General Manager of Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore, who reaffirmed the hotel’s commitment to showcasing global cuisines and cultural connections.
The event’s featured guest chef, Chef Edward Lim Esmero, introduced the buffet and described the inspiration behind its diverse and thoughtfully assembled dishes.
The Embassy extends its gratitude to Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy for its invaluable partnership in bringing this meaningful celebration to life once again.
