Singapore, 27 August 2026 – On 20 August 2026, the Philippine Bayanihan Society Singapore (PBSS) gathered members of the Filipino community, former and current officers, volunteers, and partners to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Founded in 2001, PBSS has long served as a cornerstone of the Filipino community in Singapore, providing a venue for educational, cultural, recreational and community activities. 

The evening began with dinner and a slideshow of photographs highlighting PBSS’s milestones, activities, and contributions to the Filipino community over the years.

In her welcome remarks, PBSS President Ms. Minerva Lau reflected on the organization’s journey and recognized those who had contributed to its growth. She later introduced PBSS founder and first president, Ms. Jennie Chua, and expressed appreciation for her dedication and efforts in establishing the organization.

A photo and video presentation on PBSS’s history followed. Former and current officers were then called onstage and honored for their service and contributions to the organization. Filipino community volunteers, partners and the Philippine Embassy were also called on the stage for a photo oppotunity.

Former PBSS President and incumbent officer Mr. Joseph Abuan also presented the organization’s upcoming activities and initiatives such as basketball tournament, line dancing and other community programs. The celebration culminated in a ceremonial cake-cutting and toast. In his closing remarks, guests were assured that PBSS would continue its work in serving and bringing together the Filipino community in Singapore.

Officials from Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present at the event. The event was followed by the PBSS’ Annual General Meeting and Board Meeting.

The Philippine Embassy reaffirms its support for PBSS and other Filipino community organizations that promote unity, volunteerism, and the welfare of Filipinos in Singapore. The Embassy likewise congratulates PBSS on its 25th anniversary and wishes the organization continued success in the years ahead. /END
