SINGAPORE, 7 October 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore welcomed the arrival of two (2) new Heads of its attached agencies, namely, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-Singapore, and the Office of the Defense and Armed Forces Attaché (ODAFA)-Singapore.
MWO’s new Labor Attaché (Labatt), Ms. Haney Lynn G. Siclot, assumed her role as the Head of MWO-Singapore on 30 September 2024. Labatt Siclot replaced former Labor Attaché Margarita Eugenia F. Victorino, whose tour of duty in Singapore concluded last January 2023.
Prior to her assignment in Singapore, Labatt Siclot was assigned as the Department of Migrant Workers’ Coordinator to the OFW Hospital. She also previously served as the Labor Attaché in MWO-Rome, Italy from 29 May 2017 to 30 June 2023.
The Philippine Embassy bade farewell to former Assistant Labor Attaché Atty. Eduard C. Ferrer who served as MWO’s Officer-in-Charge for almost two (2) years since the departure of Labatt Victorino in 2023.
The Embassy also welcomed Col. Egberto O. Dacoscos PA (GSC) as the new Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché (DAFA) in Singapore, replacing Capt. Sherwin E. Respeto PN (GSC), who ended his three-year tour of duty in Singapore on 30 September 2024.
Prior to his assignment as DAFA, Col. Dacoscos took on various roles in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), especially in the AFP Peace and Development Office (AFPPDO) and the Intelligence Service of the AFP (ISAFP). He served as Chief of the Bangsamoro Peace Support Division in 2023; Chief of the Community Support Program Division in 2022; and Chief of the CNN Peace Support Division in 2021, among others. He has more than 25 years of active service in the military, which began in 1998 as a Platoon Leader of the 7th Infantry Battalion (7IB), 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) of the Philippine Army. He made significant contributions in peacekeeping efforts having served as the Commanding Officer of the 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB), 3ID in Negros Occidental in 2020; Commanding Officer of the 3rd Civil-Military Operations (Peacemaker) Battalion (3CMOBn), 3ID of the Philippine Army in 2018; and Group Commander of Military Intelligence Group (MIG) 40 and 48 in 2016 and 2017, respectively, including as Acting Group Commander of MIG 3 in 2015, all of which were part of the ISAFP. He also served as a UN Military Observer both in Sudan and Syria in 2011 and 2012.
Philippine Ambassador Medardo Macaraig expressed appreciation for the service and dedication of Atty. Ferrer and Capt. Respeto in working closely with the Philippine Embassy to promote the interests of the Philippines and the welfare of Filipinos in Singapore. He also expressed confidence that MWO-Singapore and the Office of the Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attache (ODAFA) will reach further heights under the new leadership of Labatt Siclot and DAFA Col. Gacoscos. END
