SINGAPORE, 10 July 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore formally launched today the compilation of bilateral agreements between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of Singapore since the formal establishment of their diplomatic relations on 16 May 1969.
This publication is part of the Embassy’s book series projects under the leadership of Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig. It was first presented during the 2026 Philippine National Day Diplomatic Reception with Guest of Honor, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan.
Philippines-Singapore bilateral relations have reached greater heights in many key areas including trade and investment, security and defense cooperation, culture and people-to-people relations. Both countries are also pursuing other emerging areas of cooperation such as in green economy, smart infrastructure, renewable energy, biodiversity conservation and health.
The Philippines and Singapore are strong partners in ASEAN, where both serve as founding members. Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro on her foreword message said: “The publication of this compendium during the Philippines’ Chairship of ASEAN this 2026, under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together”, and in advance of Singapore’s assumption of Chairship in 2027, reflects the continuity of regional stewardship.” It highlights how bilateral partnerships serve as practical catalysts for advancing shared regional objectives”.
Ambassador Macaraig hopes that this compendium will serve as a useful reference for policymakers, practitioners and stakeholders, and that it will contribute to a deeper appreciation of the Philippines-Singapore partnership and its continued growth.
