PRESS RELEASE | PR-034-2025

SINGAPORE, 3 March 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore joins the observance of National Women’s Month this March. To kick off the celebration, the Philippine Embassy, led by Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig and Second Secretary Jhullie Anne A. Beniahan, Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person, spearheaded the Flag Raising Ceremony this morning at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore.
This year’s theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”, reminds us that when women rise, the nation thrives. As part of the Embassy’s commitment to gender equality and inclusive development, as well as to celebrate, advocate, and uplift women in every field, the Embassy campaigns “We, Men, support Women”. This slogan emphasizes the importance of men’s participation in women empowerment. In previous years, the Embassy launched its “WomenCan” series to inspire and empower women in taking leadership roles and opportunities and in maximizing their full potential.
Through this message, the Embassy, along with other agencies and instrumentalities of the Philippine government, further reaffirms its commitment to transforming gender equality policies into real, impactful change for women. It echoes the Philippines’ call to all stakeholders to ensure that initiatives aimed at gender equality should uplift all women, especially those from underserved communities and marginalized sectors. By championing inclusivity, the 2025 NWM Celebration shines a spotlight on equitable progress – ensuring that every woman experiences the tangible benefits of gender equality in their daily lives.
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, through this commemoration, vows to continue and intensify its client-focused gender and development programs such as the Post-Arrival Orientation Seminars (PAOS), assistance-to-nationals (ATN) services, and upskilling opportunities for women OFWs. In line with the upcoming Overseas Voting for the 2025 National and Local Elections, the Embassy’s NWM discussion will also focus on the important role that women have played in shaping the future of our nation through their votes.
As part of the month-long celebration, the Embassy dedicates the 23 March 2025 special Sunday operations to our women kababayans.
The Philippine Embassy encourages everyone to wear anything purple every Wednesday of March (March 5, 12, 19, and 26) to signify support to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Kababayans may also use the 2025 NWMC Profile Frame via Twibbonize and post your advocacy profile picture on social media with a short message of support and use the official hashtag #WEcanbeEquALL.
