Print Friendly, PDF & Email

PRESS RELEASE | PR-307-2025

SINGAPORE, 2 December 2025 – The Philippine Embassy officially resumed overseas voter (OV) registration in Singapore for the 2028 Philippines national and local elections last Monday, 1 December 2025, with almost 30 registrants during opening day.

The OV registration will run from 1 December until 30 September 2027 (21 months), as mandated by the Overseas Voting Act of 2003 or the Republic Act No. 9189, as amended by RA 10590 and other  Commission on Elections (COMELEC) resolutions, to ensure that Filipinos abroad have ample time to register, update records, or reactivate their deactivated voter status.

Once registered as an overseas voter in Singapore, kababayans may participate in the upcoming Philippine presidential elections in May 2028. During the first two days of the OV registration alone, the Embassy was able to assist over 50 Filipinos for the reactivation, correction of entry, first time registration and transfer of their records, 80% of whom were females.

The Philippine Embassy recognizes the role of women in shaping our nation and is  pleased that more women are actively participating in the conduct of overseas voting in Singapore.

Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig calls on the usual active participation of the Filipino Community in Singapore in the successful conduct of the OV registration.
