SINGAPORE, 3 September 2025 – The Philippine Embassy joined other ASEAN diplomatic missions, the Filipino Community in Singapore, and other participants, volunteers and sponsors, for the inaugural ASEAN U.N.I.T.E. picnic and clean-up activity organized by the Public Hygiene Council (PHC) of Singapore on 31 August 2025. This meaningful activity was held in celebration of SG60 and SG Clean Day. It also served as the culmination of the ASEAN month in August.
The event highlighted the importance of unity and joint responsibility in keeping our shared spaces cleaner and greener. Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig congratulated the PHC for the successful event and called on everyone to do their part to make their own country and Singapore clean.
The PHC expressed its appreciation to Ambassador Macaraig for gracing its special SG60 National Day celebration, which aims to strengthen bonds within the ASEAN communities whilst promoting environmental consciousness.
The event gathered more than 600 participants from ASEAN nations and beyond, fostering cross-cultural exchange and bonding through local cuisine, interactive booth activities and cultural performances, while emphasizing the importance of shared responsibility in maintaining the cleanliness of our shared spaces.
The Filipino migrant workers and other attendees, including young children, actively participated in trivia quizzes about Singapore and proper waste management, including food waste segregation and responsible waste disposal methods.
