Singapore, 24 August 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, together with members of the Filipino Community, joined fellow ASEAN diplomatic missions and communities at the second ASEAN U.N.I.T.E. (“yoU aNd I Together Everytime”) held on Sunday, 23 August 2026 at Punggol Coast Digital Village.
The activity was organized by Singapore’s Public Hygiene Council (PHC), and brought together over a hundred participants from ASEAN communities for a community clean-up aimed at promoting environmental responsibility, public hygiene and ASEAN solidarity. Ms. Goh Hanyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, served as Guest of Honor.
Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig joined fellow ASEAN Heads of Mission of Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Timor Leste and participants in the clean-up activity. The event also showcased ASEAN’s cultural diversity through cultural performances from the Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand, as well as performances by volunteer organizations PHC’s R.I.S.E. Champions Network, Buddhist Recreation Retreat, Catholic Welfare Services, Mangrove Learning, MIND and ASEZ WAO.
Members of the United Cordillerans Chapter Singapore performed a traditional dance accompanied by live gong instruments, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Cordilleran region. Ms. Iveca Cale Villalon Ignacio, a Filipino healthcare worker for more than a decade in Singapore and winner of the 2025 edition of “I Can See Your Voice,” also performed two songs during the program.
The Embassy’s participation in ASEAN U.N.I.T.E. supports the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN Chairship, under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” particularly its emphasis on people empowerment and a people-centered ASEAN Community.
The activity also provided an opportunity for ASEAN diplomatic missions and communities in Singapore to strengthen friendship and people-to-people ties while working together towards cleaner and more sustainable communities. /END
