PRESS RELEASE | PR-080-2025

SINGAPORE, 13 April 2025 – Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig and Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Commissioner Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingal officially launched the Overseas Online Voting period in Singapore this morning at the Philippine Embassy. The event, attended by Embassy personnel and COMELEC officials, was live streamed on the Embassy’s Facebook page.
The opening ceremony was followed by the initialization of the Overseas Voting and Counting System (OVCS), which was led by members of the Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEI), composed of Chairperson Third Secretary and Vice Consul Renee Gayle Chua, Poll Clerk Mr. Allan P. Casupanan and Third Member Mr. Julius Marlo Daguio.
In their messages, Ambassador Macaraig and Commissioner Tangaro-Casingal encouraged all Filipino registered voters to exercise their right and duty to vote and avoid waiting until the last day to cast their vote. “Ang pagboto ay isang karapatan at tungkulin nating mga Pilipino”, Ambassador Macaraig emphasized.
To support voters encountering challenges with online enrollment, the Embassy also conducted today the first batch of its Gabay Botante: Enrollment Support Sessions. A total of 35 Filipinos were assisted after experiencing technical difficulties during their online enrollment attempts.
The Philippine Embassy remains committed to ensuring a smooth, accessible, and inclusive voting process for all overseas Filipinos in Singapore. (END).
