PRESS RELEASE | PR-039-2025

11 March 2025, Singapore – The Philippine Embassy and its partner agencies, Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), on Monday, 10 March 2025, commemorated the International Women’s Day with clients availing themselves of the Embassy’s consular and labor services.

Annually, every March 8th, the international community honors the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and takes the occasion to put a spotlight on the global advocacy for gender equality and women empowerment (GEWE). The date is a salute to the bravery of the women workers in New York City, USA,  who, on 08 March 1908, took to the streets to protest against child labor, to rally for humane working conditions, and to demand the right of women to vote.

The advocacy for women’s causes continues today, and the Embassy stands with the Philippines’ continued commitment to advance women’s equal participation in all aspects of life.

To raise awareness of the GEWE goals of the Philippine government, Embassy staff distributed brochures and commemorative tokens to clients who visited the Embassy on 10 March. They also had the opportunity to engage with MWO and OWWA officers over kape and ube pandesal. (END).
