SINGAPORE,  7 August 2026 – Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig  welcomed the Xavier School Under-11 (U11) Basketball Team at the Philippine Embassy on 07 August, as the young student athletes represent the Philippines, along with other Philippine teams, in the World Youth Championship 2026 being held  in Singapore from 05 to 09 August 2026.

The delegation is composed of 14 Grades 5 and 6 student athletes, accompanied by Coach Howard Terrence Chang and Assistant Coaches Gabriel Carlo Sia and Matthew Oriel.

The Xavier School U11 Team opened its campaign with two (2) consecutive victories, defeating YBL Thailand on 6 August and 2XSG Singapore on 7 August, as it advances in the tournament.

The Philippines is likewise represented in other age-group divisions of the Championship through teams from the National Basketball League of the Philippines. On 6 August, San Narcisco Martyrs (SNM) A’s Gas from Zambales secured a decisive victory in the U16 Division, winning against their opponent with a score of 66-13 victory.

This premier international tournament brings together 14 nations and over 140 teams across the globe.
