PRESS RELEASE | PR-249-2025
This month of October, we also celebrate the National Indigenous People’s Month pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1906.
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore joins the nation in honoring the rich heritage, wisdom, and contributions of the country’s Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs).
Check out the Hibla ng Lahing Pilipino (The Artistry of Philippine Textiles) 360 Exhibit available at the National Museum of Anthropology in the Philippines. The exhibit is narrated by Senator Loren Legarda and with music performed by the University of the Philippines Manila Chorale.
This gallery showcases the traditional textiles produced by various indigenous and cultural communities in the Philippines. It tells the story of how these textiles were made, the materials in making the cloth, and the technologies they used. On display are different traditional textiles, looms, natural fibers, and dyes. Among the gallery features are the Banton cloth fragments, the oldest textile collection of the National Museum of the Philippines and a National Cultural Treasure, and the death blanket called kinuttiyan used by the highest members of the Ifugao community known as the Kadangyan.
