This October, we celebrate the Museums and Galleries Month (MGM) pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 798, s. 1991. This celebration aims to underscore the importance of all media of art, and historical and religious artifacts, in nation-building and shaping our shared identity and destiny.
This year’s theme “Resilient Museums and Galleries Educating for Preparedness and Recovery,” amplifies the vital role of museums and galleries, not only as custodians of history, but as active partners in strengthening community resilience amid natural disasters, health crises, and social challenges.
We enjoin our kababayans in Singapore to take part in this celebration by exploring the many museums and galleries across Singapore. Look for Philippine artworks on display in Singapore and find out meaningful connections between our two countries. Some of these may be found in the National Gallery of Singapore, where the Fernando Zóbel: Order is Essential exhibition remains ongoing until 30 November 2025.
Kababayans may also visit the Singapore Sustainable Gallery to learn the Singapore story of resilience and sustainable development. The National Museum is also preparing a treat for Filipino work permit holders beginning this month. Details on museums and institutions in Singapore may be found here: https://www.nhb.gov.sg/
More information on the events, activities and programs of the Philippines’ observance of Museums and Galleries Month are available on this website: https://mgm.ncca.gov.ph/events/.
We invite you to share your museum visits and discoveries with us! If you come across Filipino artworks or exhibitions in Singapore, take a photo and tag us on social media. Your stories and photos can help inspire others to explore and celebrate our shared cultural heritage.
