SINGAPORE,15 May 2025 –  Philippine Ambassador to Singapore H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig warmly welcomed the new Chargé d’affaires of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Singapore,  Dr. Zaw Minn Aung, during a courtesy call of the latter at the Philippine Embassy today. Dr. Aung  arrived in Singapore on 16 April 2025.

Dr. Aung conveyed his country’s profound gratitude to the Philippines for its prompt and much-needed humanitarian assistance following the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar in March of this year. In response, Ambassador Macaraig reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to supporting Myanmar’s ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.

Ambassador Macaraig and Dr. Aung likewise shared viewpoints on developing regional and international issues, and agreed that a united ASEAN front is central to addressing shared challenges.

The meeting ended with both heads of mission reaffirming their dedication to further strengthening the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Myanmar. (END).
