New Malaysia High Commissioner to Singapore Calls on Philippine Ambassador

SINGAPORE, 24 July 2026 – Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig received a courtesy call from the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore, Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, at the Philippine Embassy on 24 July 2026. High Commissioner Siti Hadjjar recently presented her credentials to Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on 21 July 2026 at the Istana. 

During the call, the Ambassadors exchanged views on the bilateral relations between the two countries. Ambassador Macaraig shared insights on his experience in Singapore as Ambassador, as well as exchanged practical tips on managing diplomatic and consular relations.  High Commissioner Siti Hajjar Adnin congratulated the Ambassador on the newly built Philippine Embassy and exchanged anecdotes on managing embassy construction and maintenance.

High Commissioner Siti Hajjar Adnin is a seasoned career diplomat with more than 30 years in Malaysia’s diplomatic service. Prior to her appointment as Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, she served as Deputy Secretary General of Management Services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia. 

She holds the Darjah Kebesaran Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Selangor Yang Amat Mulia (D.P.M.S.) since 2021, which bestowed the title Datin Paduka.

The Philippines and Malaysia established diplomatic relations on 18 May 1965, and both were among the five countries that established ASEAN through the signing of the Bangkok Declaration on 8 August 1967./END
