SINGAPORE, 26 September 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore warmly welcomed Ace, Max, Alpha, Joker, J , and Jason of the six-member Philippine-pop group 1ST ONE (@1stoneofficialph) ahead of their Music Matters Live performance at Clark Quay in Singapore this Saturday, 27 September 2025
Through its Sentro Rizal Singapore, the Embassy organized a cultural gathering to celebrate Filipino heritage, history, and creativity entitled “Mapping the Filipino Story through P-Pop” featuring 1ST ONE’s “MYV (Map Your Vibe),” a powerful song inspired by the historic 1734 Murillo Velarde Map known as the “Mother of All Philippines Maps”. The event is also part of the Embassy’s celebration of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) and the Philippine Creative Industries Month this September.
In an engaging discussion with the audience, composed of Filipino youth and students as well as members of the Filipino community in Singapore, 1ST.ONE shared their view that as Filipinos, we are all charting our own stories and journeys and that the map serves as a reminder of where we come from and a guide for how we can navigate our future. The group added that many of their songs draw inspiration from significant moments in Philippine history, serving as their way of sharing the Filipino story with the youth through the language and energy of P-Pop.
Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig commended the group for their creativity and passion, noting that their work represents a new and dynamic genre of Filipino music. He also expressed optimism about the potential of P-Pop, not only in the Philippines but also across Asia, as a platform for showcasing Filipino identity and artistry on the global stage.
The Philippine Embassy invites kababayans to support the free live performances of 1ST ONE and other Filipino artists namely, Jolianne, Costa Cashman, Fern, James Reid, Mikey Bustos, and Fil-Norwegian Hillari at the Music Matters Live from 26 to 28 September, and 1 October 2025. /END
