PRESS RELEASE | PR-311-2026
SINGAPORE, 1 October 2026 – As we round up September’s commemoration of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANAMo) 2026, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore thanks our Filipino-run schools, teachers and students who joined us in making this year’s observance more meaningful.
Through their school-based activities, our young learners explored the importance of the seas to the Philippines — as a source of food and livelihood, a means of transportation and connectivity, a home to rich marine biodiversity, and an important part of our identity as an archipelagic nation.
More importantly, they brought this year’s theme “Karapatan sa Karagatan, Sama-sama Nating Alagaan” into the classroom, reminding us that appreciation of our seas can begin at a young age, and that the next generation has an important part to play in caring for them. 🌊
As we close MANAMo 2026, we invite everyone to revisit the Embassy’s MANAMo features and activities this month, including our “From Sea to Table” visit to Jurong Fishery Port, where we learned how the choices we make as consumers — from knowing where our seafood comes from and choosing responsibly, to taking only what we can consume — can also contribute to caring for our marine resources.
MANAMo may be observed every September, but its message is one we can practice every day.
To our participating schools, teachers and students: maraming salamat for helping make MANAMo 2026 more meaningful! 💙🌊
Let us continue to learn about, appreciate and care for our seas.
Karapatan sa Karagatan, Sama-sama Nating Alagaan. 🇵🇭🌊
