SINGAPORE, 23 March 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore joined the Filipino community, alongside Singaporean and international audiences, in celebrating the phenomenal success of Lea Salonga – Stage, Screen & Everything in Between, staged at the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay from 20 to 22 March 2026.
The landmark series of concerts marked Ms. Salonga’s much-anticipated return to the Esplanade after more than a decade. All four performances played to sold-out houses, with the theater filled to capacity by approximately 2,000 attendees per show, an extraordinary testament to her enduring global appeal and the pride she continues to bring to Filipinos everywhere.
Ms. Salonga delivered a captivating performance, accompanied by her band and the Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra. Her setlist featured a dynamic mix of Broadway favourites, pop classics, and film soundtracks, including songs from Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, and Disney hits, alongside contemporary pieces. A highlight of the evening was her heartfelt rendition of the Filipino song “Kailangan Kita,” warmly received by the audience.
Ahead of her concert series, Ms. Salonga also surprised fans with a live performance at Adventure Begins: A Magical Bay Celebration held at the Marina Bay area on 13 March 2026. The event marked the maiden voyage and homeporting of Asia’s first Disney cruise ship, the Disney Adventure. She delighted the crowd with her rendition of Reflection, the celebrated song from the Disney animated film Mulan, for which Ms. Salonga provided its heroine’s singing voice.
It was further announced that she will soon return to the Singapore stage as Madame Thénardier in the upcoming run of Les Misérables at the Marina Bay Sands Theatre, from 24 March to 10 May 2026.
In line with its cultural promotion efforts and in celebration of National Women’s Month this March, the Embassy facilitated the giveaway of concert tickets to two (2) winners of its Women’s Month photo contest, as well as to one Embassy personnel selected through an internal draw. Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig, along with Embassy personnel, also attended the concert series in support of Filipino artistry in Singapore.
The Philippine Embassy congratulates Ms. Lea Salonga, her team and ensemble, and the Esplanade on a highly successful concert series, and reaffirms its commitment to promoting Philippine culture and supporting Filipino artists abroad. /END
