PRESS RELEASE | PR-005-2026
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, in collaboration with the National Arts Council (NAC) Singapore and The Columns Gallery, is pleased to support “Isang Dipang Langit: Fragments of Memory, Fields of Now”, a landmark exhibition of Philippine contemporary art which will run from 20 to 31 January 2026 at Tanjong Pagar Distripark, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Curated by renowned curator Dong Jo Chang of The Columns Gallery (Seoul | New York | Singapore), the exhibition is envisioned as the largest landmark exhibition of Philippine contemporary art outside the Philippines, offering Singapore audiences an unprecedented encounter with the depth and dynamism of Filipino artistic practice.
Drawing inspiration from celebrated Filipino writer Amado V. Hernandez, Isang Dipang Langit (A Sliver of Sky) proposes a new encounter with contemporary Filipino art through the conceptual lens of the dipang langit, a fleeting opening where fragments of history, personal experience, and collective imagination converge. Through installation, sculpture, painting, film, and performance-based works, the exhibition reflects on memory, displacement, resilience, and possibility as they are inscribed in material, gesture, and space.
The exhibition features works by celebrated Filipino artists Oca Villamiel, Pete Jimenez, Alfredo & Isabel Aquilizan, Elaine Navas, Manuel Ocampo, Dominic Mangila, Russ Ligtas, Eisa Jocson, and Leeroy New, whose distinct practices together map a rich and plural field of contemporary Philippine art. The exhibition will bring together large installations, sculpture, performance, and painting, and will encourage visitors to explore the space at their own pace and find their own interpretations under a shared “sliver of sky.”
The exhibition is presented during Singapore Art Week 2026. Admission is free. For more information, please visit:
