PRESS RELEASE | PR-317-2025
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore joins the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Bureau of Immigration and other Philippine government agencies in the observance of the International Day Against Trafficking today, 12 December 2025 under the multi-year theme of “Iisang Nasyon, Iisang Aksyon Tapusin ang Human Trafficking Ngayon!”.
In recent years, there have been reported cases of Filipino travellers posing as tourists going to Singapore but ended up for overseas work under unfair working arrangements and conditions. Post has extended appropriate assistance to our kababayans, but enjoins everyone to continue to be vigilant to avoid or minimize similar cases in the future. As part of its preventive efforts, the Embassy continues to strengthen the capacity of its frontline personnel such as conducting seminars and talks on the Philippines’ mandates and international commitments on anti-trafficking, victim protection, and migration governance.
We join the global call to end human trafficking, a transnational organized crime that poses a security issue within the region. Many, especially women and children, fall victim to human trafficking and exploitation by syndicates and illegal recruiters who lure them for work, but end up in scam centers, prostitution and other illegal means of employment.
Pangalagaan ang ating karapatan at dignidad, mag-ingat sa mga nag-aalok ng trabaho sa ibang bansa at baka ikaw ay maging susunod na biktima ng scam at human trafficking. END
