26 June 2024, Singapore – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore brings back Food Trek this year as part of its commemorative activities for the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence and Nationhood.
Launched in 2023, Food Trek aims to showcase Filipino culture through the presentation of a vibrant array of authentic Filipino cuisines and Philippine food products in the city-state. It is designed to showcase the rich and diverse flavors of the Philippines, offering a unique gastronomic experience that reflects the country’s heritage and traditions.
Included in this year’s roster of participating establishments are Lechon Republic, Don Lechon, Iskina Cebu, Max’s Restaurant, Second Serving, Nanay’s Kitchen, Kuya’s Kusinang Pinoy, Primefood Marketing, Emperador Inc., and Avocadoria. These establishments served mouthwatering Filipino food favorites such as the well-loved lechon (roasted pork), pork and chicken sisig, chicharon bulaklak, halo-halo, taho, tapsilog, samalamig, leche flan, ube jam, kangkong chips by Kangkong King, Emperador brandy, and avocado ice cream during the Philippine Independence Day Diplomatic Reception last 14 June 2024 at the Grand Ballroom of ParkRoyal Beach Road Hotel.
Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig expressed enthusiasm about the Food Trek, remarking, “We are delighted to celebrate Philippine Independence Day this month with the resumption of Food Trek here in Singapore. This event not only highlights the delicious and diverse flavors of Filipino cuisine but also strengthens the cultural ties between our two nations. We invite everyone to join us in this celebration and experience the warmth and hospitality of the Filipino people through our food.”
