FILIPINO GAME DEVELOPERS SHINE AT GAMESCOM ASIA 2024, SHOWCASE FILIPINO TALENT AND INNOVATION

22 October 2024, Singapore – Filipino game developers and companies took center stage at the Philippine Pavilion during Gamescom Asia 2024, held from 17 to 20 October 2024 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Organized by the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP) in collaboration with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Singapore, the Pavilion highlighted the Philippines’ growing prominence in the global gaming industry. 

The Philippine Pavilion was officially inaugurated on 18 October 2024, following the opening ceremony led by Mr. Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry; and Culture, Community and Youth . Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo Macaraig graced the Pavilion’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, highlighting the Philippines’ commitment to fostering international collaborations and showcasing Filipino creativity globally. 

Under the theme, “Catalyzing the Future of Filipino Game Development“, the Pavilion showcased the country’s innovation and creativity in the gaming industry. It brought together some of the Philippines’ leading game development companies and featured top Filipino game developers, including Animation Vertigo Asia, Buko Studios Inc., Dreamlords Digital, Exodia Game Development Outsourcing, Monstronauts, Neun Farben Corporation, Puppeteer Studios, Synergy 88, and Taktyl Studios Inc. Visitors were also treated to a taste of Filipino culture through locally-made snacks such as Kangkong King and Boy Bawang courtesy of  Prime Foods Marketing.

Building on the success of Gamescom Cologne 2023, this year’s participation reinforced the Philippines’ status as a rising hub for game development solutions. Supported by  the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and aligned with the Malikhaing Pinoy Program (MPP), the initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance market access and drive innovation within the country’s creative sectors. The participation of the Philippines was also backed by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), further positioning the Philippines as a key player in the global gaming industry.

Gamescom Asia 2024 serves as Southeast Asia’s premier platform for the gaming and interactive entertainment industries, bringing together developers, publishers, and professionals from around the world to exchange ideas and explore new opportunities. END
