SINGAPORE, 26 June 2026 – Leaders and representatives of Filipino community organizations attended the Second Quarter Ugnayan: Bagong Pilipinas Town Hall Meeting held on 25 June 2026 at the Philippine Chancery. Organized by the Philippine Embassy in Singapore, the quarterly meeting featured updates on government programs and services for overseas Filipinos, a briefing on the registration of Filipino community organizations under Singapore law, and presentations on upcoming community initiatives. The meeting was also livestreamed via Facebook Live, garnering more than 13,000 views as of writing.
Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig joined Embassy officers and members of the Filipino community at the meeting, which included a brief tribute to Consul Jhullie Anne Beniahan, who will conclude her tour of duty in Singapore in July after six (6) years of service. The Embassy also welcomed Consul Atty. Teddy Edmund Pavon, who recently joined the Philippine Embassy in Singapore and will assume responsibility for the Political and Economic Section.

Heads and Representatives of Partner Agencies, namely MWO-Singapore, OWWA-Singapore, SSS and Pag-IBIG share updates on services available to OFWs in Singapore
Representatives from the Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-Singapore, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Security System (SSS), and Pag-IBIG Fund provided updates on labor, welfare, social security, and housing programs and services available to overseas Filipinos.
Consul Renee Gayle M. Chua delivered a briefing on the registration of Filipino community organizations under Singapore’s Registry of Societies (ROS). The presentation encouraged Filipino groups that operate as organized associations to formalize their registration in accordance with Singapore laws and regulations, emphasizing that compliance is a shared responsibility of the Filipino community and contributes to the credibility, sustainability, and accountability of Filipino organizations in Singapore. The briefing likewise underscored the Filipino spirit of bayanihan, encouraging community leaders to work together in promoting responsible and law-abiding community organizations.
Second Secretary Gayle Chua, Head of the Cultural and Filipino Community Relations Section gives briefing on the registration of Filipino community organizations under Singapore’s Registry of Societies (ROS) while members of the Filipino organizations share their experiences in ROS processing.
The presentation was followed by an open forum featuring resource speakers from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (PhilCham), the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Singapore Chapter, and Lion City Eagles Club, who shared their respective organizations’ experiences in formalizing their operations, including the use of the Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) structure as an alternative organizational model where appropriate.
The meeting concluded with announcements from Filipino community organizations on their upcoming activities and initiatives, including Fiestang Pinoy Istoryang OFW 2026, the 2026 Philippine Country Fair, sporting events organized by Filipino bowling, badminton, and dragon boat groups, as well as professional networking, cultural, and entertainment activities scheduled in the coming months. These presentations provided an opportunity for organizations to promote collaboration, encourage participation, and keep the wider Filipino community informed of activities across Singapore.
