FASHIONPhilippines Pavilion showcases Filipino Artistry at the Asia-Pacific Textile and Apparel Supply Chain Expo (APTEXPO) 2024

14 November 2024, Singapore – The Philippine Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig, joined Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ceferino S. Rodolfo of the Industry Development and Investment Promotions Group in visiting the FASHIONPhilippines Pavilion on its opening day, 13 November 2024, at the Asia-Pacific Textile and Apparel Supply Chain Expo (APTEXPO) 2024, held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center in Singapore.

 

Ambassador Macaraig, along with Embassy personnel, engaged with industry stakeholders and explored potential partnerships in support of  Filipino innovation and providing  opportunities in Singapore for Filipino local designers in the fashion and textile industries.

 

With the launch of the FASHIONPhilippines Pavilion at the Summit, the Philippines proudly marks its presence at the APTEXPO 2024 showcasing the country’s finest in Luxe Resort high-end resort wear and accessories. The Pavilion highlights the talents and workmanship of thirteen (13) renowned Filipino designers, namely, Egay Ayag, Aztec Barba, Popoy Barba, Dodjie Batu, Edgar R. Buyan, Ellis Co, Emi – Alexander Englis, Jun Escario, Jor-el Espina, Dennis Lustico, Windel Mira, Benjie Panizales, and Puey Quiñones; as well as  five (5) accessory brands from Agsam Fern, ARANAZ, Beatriz, LAKAT, and Vesti.The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) also showcases its innovation through its textile displays.

 

Through the support of the Malikhaing Pinoy Program, the Philippines joins the Asia-Pacific Textile and Apparel Supply Chain Expo through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), in collaboration with the Confederation of Wearable Exporters of the Philippines (CONWEP) and the Philippine Fashion Council. This participation aligns with the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act or Republic Act 11094, reflecting the Philippines’ commitment to promote and elevate its fashion and textile industries on the global stage.

 

Furthering these efforts, Filipino designers at APTEXPO 2024 met with the Singapore Fashion Council (SFC) to discuss future collaborations and explore potential market entry through the Design Orchard Retail Showcase (DORS) at Design Orchard. This partnership reflects the Philippines’ growing influence in global fashion, with Singapore serving as a gateway for Filipino brands to enter the international market.

 

As the premier platform for the Asia-Pacific’s textile and apparel sectors, the inaugural APTEXPO 2024 brings together industry leaders to showcase products, share insights, and forge strategic connections. This year’s event, which runs until 15 November 2024, is supported  by the ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX) and the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) and co-organized by MP Singapore and The Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT TEX).
