The Philippine Embassy in Singapore integrates gender and development (GAD) principles into its diplomatic, consular, and community-engagement functions, consistent with Republic Act No. 9710 (Magna Carta of Women) and the guidelines of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW). Through its GAD Focal Point System (GFPS), the Embassy ensures that all programs and services reflect gender sensitivity, inclusivity, and respect for human rights. These initiatives aim to advance the welfare of women and men, strengthen gender-responsive governance, and promote equality among Filipinos in Singapore.

Capacity Building

The Embassy conducts continuous gender-sensitivity and capacity-building activities for its officers and staff. These sessions enhance awareness on gender concepts, unconscious bias, gender-based violence (GBV), and inclusive communication. Workshops also include discussions on the Embassy’s GAD Plan and Budget (GPB), gender analysis tools, and integration of GAD principles in planning, budgeting, and reporting.

Support for Women Migrants

The Embassy provides gender-responsive assistance and protection to Filipino women and girls in Singapore through its Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) and Migrant Workers Office (MWO). Programs and interventions are designed to uphold women’s rights, promote empowerment, and address the unique challenges faced by overseas workers.

GAD in Diplomacy

Gender equality is a core dimension of the Embassy’s diplomatic engagement. In alignment with the DFA’s GAD agenda, the Embassy promotes gender perspectives in foreign-policy dialogues, ASEAN cooperation frameworks, and multilateral partnerships.

Partnerships

Recognizing that gender equality is a shared responsibility, the Embassy collaborates with Philippine government agencies, Singapore institutions, international organisations, and the Filipino community to advance GAD objectives.
