DISCOVER THE WONDERS OF THE PHILIPPINES AT ITB ASIA 2024

SINGAPORE, 23 October 2024 –  The Philippines is set to captivate international markets at ITB Asia 2024, Asia’s leading travel trade show, taking place from 23 to 25 October 2024 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. 

Philippine Ambassador to Singapore H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig kickstarted the event by attending the ITB Asia 2024 Opening Ceremony and visiting the Philippine booth, led by the Philippine Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), along with 29 other participants comprising travel agencies, tour operators, hotel chains and entertainment centers from the Philippines. 

Ambassador Macaraig had the honor to present to TPB Chief Operating Officer Ms. Maria Margarita Nograles the prestigious  “Best Dive Destination (Asia Pacific)” award, which the Philippines won at the Travel Weekly Asia Readers’ Choice Awards on 15 October 2024. This accolade is a testament to the Philippines’ stunning marine biodiversity and exceptional diving experiences.

The Philippine Ambassador also had the opportunity to meet Mr. Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry; and Culture, Community and Youth, at the Philippine booth.

At the heart of the Philippine booth is the Department of Tourism (DOT)  tagline “Love the Philippines”, inviting travelers to immerse themselves in the Philippines; rich culture and breathtaking destinations. The booth showcases different travel destinations in the Philippines – from the pristine beaches of Boracay to the vibrant landscape of Cebu and the historic charm of Ilocos – every corner of the Philippines offers unique experiences that cater to every type of traveler.  

The booth is adorned with elegant rattan and solihiya wood panels and furniture, complemented by indigenous textiles such as yakan table runners and t’nalak throw pillow covers, reflecting the warmth and hospitality of Filipino culture.


The event features insightful discussions on emerging global trends in travel and tourism. Ms. Liz Ortiguera, Managing Director Asia-Pacific and Senior Advisor to CEO of World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), delivered a compelling  keynote address on Global Trends for Sustainable Travel and Tourism. She shared key trends such as consumer-driven advocacy, sustainable destination management,  community-based tourism,sustainability certifications, nature-positive tourism, holistic wellness experiences,  celebrating local cuisine, and immersive, authentic experiences – each resonating with the unique offerings of the DOT.

An annual event held in Singapore, ITB Asia presents viable opportunities for countries like  the Philippines to promote its tourism potential and to attract travelers seeking new adventures.
