Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac met with Filipino community leaders in Singapore during the “Kamustahan with Sec. Hans” on 28 June 2026. He listened to the concerns of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and shared updates on ongoing efforts to make government services more accessible, responsive, and convenient. Secretary Cacdac highlighted the DMW’s digital transformation initiatives, including continued coordination with airlines and the New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) to maximize the benefits of the OFW Pass and make airport processing smoother for departing OFWs. “Patuloy po kaming nakikipag-ugnayan sa mga airlines at NNIC upang maging lubos ang benepisyo ng OFW Pass,” Secretary Cacdac said.

 

He also provided updates on the e-Verifier System and the Dataflow platform, which now enable eligible workers to access optional online contract verification for Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs). The initiative aims to reduce the need for face-to-face transactions and bring DMW services closer to OFWs wherever they are. To raise awareness, the DMW, in partnership with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Singapore, will conduct a series of webinars on the OFW Pass, the OFW Hospital’s services, and other government programs available to OFWs throughout their overseas employment journey.

 

Secretary Cacdac also noted that the AKSYON Fund received a higher allocation following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s approval, enabling the Department to extend assistance to more than 80,000 OFWs worldwide, including about 1,000 beneficiaries in Singapore. He emphasized that although the DMW is one of the government’s youngest departments, it continues to expand programs for OFW welfare, health, protection, and reintegration. These include the OFW Hospital, the establishment of OFW Wings in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH), and reintegration support through the National Reintegration Network (NRN), which connects returning OFWs to employment facilitation, skills training through TESDA, livelihood support through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and other government services that help them rebuild sustainable lives in the Philippines./ END
