- While divorce is not recognized under Philippine law, a Filipino spouse may remarry if a valid foreign divorce was obtained by their foreign spouse. However, this divorce must first be recognized by a Philippine court before the Filipino can legally remarry.

Judicial Recognition
The Filipino party must file a civil case at a Regional Trial Court (RTC) in the Philippines for recognition of the foreign divorce. Legal counsel is strongly advised.
Registration of Court Decision
The court decision must be registered at the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) where the RTC is located.
If the marriage was registered in the Philippines, submit the documents to the LCRO where the marriage is recorded.
If registered abroad, submit to the City Civil Registry Office (CCRO), Manila City Hall.

Original or Certified True Copy of the foreign divorce decree, registered at CCRO Manila
Original or Certified True Copy of the RTC Certificate of Finality
Certificate of Registration of the RTC decision at the relevant LCRO
Final Submission
After annotation by the LCRO, submit all annotated documents and supporting papers to the Office of the Civil Registrar General (OCRG) in Manila for final processing.

All documents issued in Singapore for submission to Philippine authorities must be Apostilled by the Singapore Academy of Law.
