PRESS RELEASE | PR-003-2026

Singapore, 12 January 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore formally opened its newly reconstructed Chancery at 20 Nassim Road and relaunched Sentro Rizal Singapore through Pasinaya, a ceremonial and cultural event held on Friday, 09 January 2026.

Attended by approximately 120 guests, comprising members of the Filipino community, institutional partners, and Embassy personnel, the event marked the Chancery’s formal opening following its inauguration on 20 October 2025 by Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro and Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, and the start of Embassy operations at the new premises on 26 December 2025.

In his remarks, Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig underscored the significance of the new Chancery as a symbol of the enduring Philippines-Singapore bilateral relationship, as well as a functional and welcoming space that enhances the Embassy’s capacity to deliver consular services and engage the Filipino community in Singapore. He noted that the completion of the project required sustained coordination and compliance with regulatory requirements.

The programme opened with the singing of the national anthem held at the Embassy grounds and a thanksgiving Mass officiated by Fr. Romeo Yu Chang at the Sinagtala Hall, followed by video presentations highlighting the redevelopment of the Chancery and messages from officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and the National Commission of Culture and the Arts.

The formal relaunch of Sentro Rizal Singapore was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Embassy’s consular area. Situated within the new Chancery beside the consular area, Sentro Rizal Singapore serves as the Embassy’s primary platform for cultural diplomacy, promoting Philippine arts, culture, and heritage, and supporting cultural engagement with the Filipino community and Singaporean partners.

The Pasinaya concluded with a networking session and community salu-salo at the Embassy’s consular area. /END
