EMBASSY ADVISORY
AD-034-2024
Further to the Advisory from the Migrant Workers Office–Singapore dated 7 June 2024, on Third Country Recruitment Schemes, the Philippine Embassy warns the public, especially our kababayans, of the emergence of a new recruitment scheme, targeting Filipinos who wish to seek employment abroad.
It has come to our attention that certain individuals are using the name and logo of the Philippine Embassy, posing as Embassy employees, and/or alleging to have connections to the Embassy, in recruiting Filipinos and offering employment in Singapore.
The recruiters will then require payment of exorbitant application fees and later on will be unresponsive after receiving the payment from the interested applicants.
Please be informed that the Philippine Embassy is not involved in any kind of recruitment activities, nor in facilitating the hiring process for a third party, including conducting interviews and accepting employment application fees. The Embassy has also neither authorized any person nor availed of any services of third party recruitment agencies for Filipinos seeking employment in Singapore.
The public is reminded to stay alert and exercise caution by verifying first the authenticity of any communication or transaction, in order to avoid falling victim to scam, fraud, illegal recruitment and human trafficking.
The Philippine Embassy strongly advises all Filipino nationals to deal only with licensed Philippine recruitment agencies that have valid Department of Migrant Workers (DMW)–approved job orders to avoid falling victim to illegal recruitment. Filipinos planning to work overseas are advised to verify job offers through the DMW website at www.dmw.gov.ph.
Furthermore, the unauthorized use of the Philippine Embassy seal, coat of arms, as well as the names and titles of its officials is strictly prohibited, and may be subject to legal action. Any person or entity claiming association with the Philippine Embassy and its partner agencies, especially in conducting illegal and unscrupulous activities, will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law.
Should you receive any suspicious emails or letters using the name/logo of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore or calls from anyone inviting you for an interview and requesting for payment, please report them to us immediately by sending an email to singapore.pe@dfa.gov.ph or calling +65 6737-3977.
