SINGAPORE, 03 December 2025 – The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Singapore, Ms. Séverine de Potter, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig on 02 December 2025 at the Philippine Embassy. 

During the call, the two Ambassadors exchanged views on Philippines-Belgium bilateral cooperation, regional economic developments, and matters of mutual interest to both nations. 

Ambassador Macaraig shared his experience of over 30 years in diplomatic service and  emphasized the important contributions of Filipino professionals and workers to the Philippine economy, particularly through their remittances, and their vital role in strengthening bilateral relations. 

Ambassador De Potter recognized the significant presence of Filipino nurses and seafarers in Belgium. She shared that Filipino professionals, especially in the healthcare and maritime sectors, play a crucial role in addressing labor shortages and contribute significantly to Belgium through their expertise. 

Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening Philippines–Belgium relations through continued dialogue, cooperation in multilateral fora, and initiatives that promote closer ties between their peoples. Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Belgium were formally established on 04 July 1946. (END)
