On 11 November 2025, the ASEAN Missions in Singapore gathered to joyfully celebrate the historic accession of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Lester as the 11th member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Philippine Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig and First Secretary Joyleen E. Santos joined the diplomatic community on this occasion. 

The event was graced by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry Gan Siow Huang. Minister Gan extended Singapore’s congratulatory message to Timor-Leste Ambassador H.E. Alexandre Tilman.

Timor-Leste formally joined ASEAN during the recent ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur under the chairship of Malaysia in October 2025. 

The Philippines supports Timor-Leste’s full integration into ASEAN and remains committed to strengthening regional solidarity, unity and prosperity as it prepares to assume the next Chair of ASEAN in 2026. /END
