SINGAPORE, 03 August 2026 –  Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig received the participants from the Philippines who attended the ASEAN Law and Policy Academy (ALPA) 2026 during a courtesy call at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on 30 July 2026. The participants included officials, legal practitioners, academics, and policy professionals from various government agencies and institutions from the Philippines. 

ALPA 2026, organized by the @Center for International Law (CIL) of the @National University of Singapore (NUS), was held from 27 to 31 July 2026 at the NUS Kent Ridge Campus. The program gathered practitioners and educators to discuss ASEAN legal frameworks, dispute settlement, economic integration, the digital economy, investment, and environmental cooperation.

During the courtesy call, Ambassador Macaraig shared insights with the participants on current issues facing the Philippines and the ASEAN region, as well as on the progress of the 2026 Philippine ASEAN Chairship. They also discussed the significance of enhancing resilience, good governance, and regional cooperation in an increasingly complex global environment. 

The Ambassador likewise emphasized the importance of initiatives like ALPA in deepening understanding of ASEAN’s evolving legal and policy landscape and in strengthening networks among government officials, scholars, and legal and policy practitioners in the country and in the region. (END)
