SINGAPORE, 7 November 2025 – The Philippine Department of Agriculture delegation, led by Executive Director Rallen O. Verdadero and Philippine Agricultural Attaché to Thailand Annalyn Lopez-Jamora, paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig yesterday at the Philippine Embassy. Joining the call were representatives from the Philippines’ agribusiness sector.
The visit is part of the delegation’s Agricultural Investment Promotion and Technology Benchmarking Mission to Singapore which aims to learn from the city-state’s successful models that integrate technology, sustainability, and economic growth. The delegates also participated in the Singapore International Agri-Food Week (SIAW) 2025 as well as the Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia (AFTEA) taking place this week in Singapore.
During the meeting, Ambassador Macaraig highlighted Singapore’s best practices in sustainable agriculture and agri-technology innovations. Ambassador Macaraig and the group underscored the significance of adopting advanced agricultural techniques and diversifying agricultural investments to enhance productivity and resilience in the Philippine agricultural sector.
Agritourism was also a focal point of the discussion, emphasizing its potential to create additional revenue streams and promote rural development in the Philippines through sustainable and innovative tourism practices.
Ambassador Macaraig expressed his support for the delegation’s objectives, reiterating the Embassy’s commitment to facilitate collaborative efforts that can benefit Philippine agriculture and agribusiness.
The Mission will conclude their Singapore visit with Usapang Agribiz: Forum on Agribusiness Opportunities in Philippine Livestock and Poultry, an initiative jointly spearheaded with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)-Singapore. The Forum, aligned with OWWA’s Overseas Filipino Workers Reintegration Preparedness Fair, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 09 November 2025. (END)
