U.S., SOUTHEAST ASIAN NATIONS CONVENE TO STRENGTHEN INDO-PACIFIC SECURITY COOPERATION

Philippine Department of National Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. joined his counterparts at the United States-Southeast Asia Defense Ministerial Meeting on 30 May 2025.

PHILIPPINES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2025 SHANGRI-LA DIALOGUE

Secretary of National Defense Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. will participate in the 22nd International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue from May 30 to June 1, 2025, in Singapore.

Secretary Teodoro, together with senior officials from the Department of National Defense and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, is scheduled to hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with counterparts from various countries. The engagements aim to discuss regional and global security issues and strengthen defense and security cooperation with allies.

The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue brings together defense ministers, military chiefs, and strategic experts to tackle pressing security challenges and reinforce regional cooperation.

Embassy Personnel Deepen Understanding of Filipino Culture and Heritage through Bagungaya Lecture Workshop

The workshop, held for Embassy personnel, formed part of Katutubo Exchange’s continuing outreach efforts, aligned with the United Nations International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022–2032) and the Centennial Year of National Living Treasure Magdalena Gamayo.
The activity featured Dr. Edwin Antonio, founder of Katutubo Exchange Philippines and Vice Head of the National Committee on Northern Cultural Communities under the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), who was the resource speaker and workshop facilitator. A long-time advocate for the promotion and preservation of Filipino heritage, Dr. Antonio conducted a similar lecture-workshop in Singapore in August 2018, making his return a welcome and enriching continuation of the Embassy’s cultural engagement initiatives..
