PH EMBASSY HOLDS SPECIAL UGNAYAN ON #HALALAN2025

Filipino Community leaders in Singapore participated in the hybrid Special Ugnayan: Bagong Pilipinas TownHall Meeting organized by the Philippine Embassy on Sunday, 30 March 2025 to discuss the conduct of Philippine Overseas Online Voting for the 2025 National Elections. It was also streamed live via the Embassy’s Facebook page.

AMBASSADOR MACARAIG HIGHLIGHTS PH ECONOMIC STRENGTHS AND INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT GLOBAL CFO NETWORK EVENT

The Ambassador of the Philippines to Singapore, H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig addressed senior and chief financial officers at the Global CFO Network event to share an overview of the Philippines’ investment climate and economic outlook.

He highlighted the country’s economic priorities, key growth industries, and government efforts to attract more investments—including reforms, infrastructure development, and measures to improve ease of doing business.

The session, moderated by Simon Hayes, provided valuable insights into why the Philippines continues to gain momentum as a prime investment destination in the region.

EMBASSY BIDS FAREWELL TO DEPUTY HEAD AND CONSUL GENERAL FERNANDEZ, CONGRATULATES HIM AS AMBASSADOR-DESIGNATE TO PAKISTAN

he Philippine Embassy in Singapore, led by Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig, together with its attached agencies, bid farewell to Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, who will be leaving for Pakistan on 22 March 2025 to assume his new assignment as Ambassador-designate of the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of Pakistan with concurrent jurisdiction over Afghanistan.

PHILIPPINES OUT OF FATF GREY LIST

During the final plenary session of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in Paris, France on 19-21 February 2025, the FATF Plenary announced the removal of the Philippines in the grey list and congratulated the Philippines for the positive progress in addressing the strategic anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism and proliferation financing (AML/CFT/CPF) deficiencies previously identified during evaluations. The Philippines has completed its Action Plan to resolve the identified strategic deficiencies within agreed timeframes and will no longer be subject to the FATF’s increased monitoring process.

The Philippine Embassy, on Sunday, 09 March 2025, commemorated International Women’s Day, with a forum titled, “Kababaihan at Balota: Remembering the History of Women’s Suffrage and Mobilizing Filipina Migrants”.

The Embassy collaborated with Dr. Mary Dorothy “Doti” DL. Jose, Associate Professor at the Department of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Manila, on this endeavor which aims to foster awareness among women Filipino migrants of their political rights, particularly of their right to vote.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR ASEAN PRIZE 2025

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), on 3 March 2025, launched the call for nominations for the ASEAN Prize 2025, and will be accepting nominations until 16 May 2025.

Now on its 8th edition, the ASEAN Prize continues to recognize and honor individuals and/or organizations for their contributions to ASEAN Community building. The ASEAN Prize 2025 Recipient will receive a trophy and monetary prize of US$ 20,000.

PHILIPPINES PARTICIPATES IN INAUGURAL ASIA-EUROPE FRIENDSHIP WALK

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, led by Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig, Philippine Governor for Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), joined the inaugural Asia-Europe Friendship Walk: Footsteps for Greener Asia-Europe Connections organized by the ASEF Secretariat this morning. The friendship walk was organized in celebration of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Day on the 1st day of March and as part of the 28th anniversary of ASEF on 15 February 2025.
