PH BOLSTERS REGIONAL DEFENSE COOPERATION AT 2025 IISS SHANGRI-LA DIALOGUE SHERPA MEETING

The Philippines actively advanced its commitment to regional defense and security during the 13th International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue Sherpa Meeting held on 19–21 January 2025 in Singapore.
Undersecretary for Strategic Assessment and Planning Ignacio Madriaga of the Department of National Defense led the delegation, delivering key remarks during the session on “Evolving Defense Partnerships and the Regional Security Architecture.” His address emphasized the significance of ASEAN centrality and adherence to international law as cornerstones for peace and stability in the region.

ENERGY SECRETARY LOTILLA MEETS WITH SINGAPORE MINISTER TAN SEE LENG

On 16 January 2025, DOE Secretary Raphael Lotilla met with Singapore Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr. Tan See Leng.

During their meeting, Secretary Lotilla and Minister Tan discussed enhancing Philippines-Singapore cooperation on alternative energy sources as well as the implementation of the MOU between the two countries on Collaboration on Carbon Credits, which was signed during the State Visit to the Philippines of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam in August 2024.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS SECRETARY MANALO VISITS “GARDENS BY THE BAHAY KUBO: A FIESTA OF ORCHIDS” EXHIBIT AT SINGAPORE’S GARDENS BY THE BAY

As part of his official visit to Singapore, Secretary Enrique A. Manalo toured the stunning exhibit “Gardens by the Bahay Kubo: A Fiesta of Orchids” at the Cloud Forest, Gardens by the Bay. This exhibit celebrates Philippine culture, natural landscape, and its flora and fauna, including the iconic waling-waling hailed as the the Queen of Philippine Orchids.
Inaugurated on 16 September 2024, the showcase commemorates the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore; and marks the first exhibit of the Philippines at Gardens by the Bay.
