DTI PUSHES INCLUSIVE GROWTH AGENDA IN ASEAN

On 24 January 2017 in Malacañan, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched the ASEAN 2017 Business and Investment Program, aimed at promoting inclusive, innovation-led growth.

The DTI, as chair of ASEAN’s Committee on Business and Investment Promotion (CBIP), will focus on the development of micro, small and medium enterprises, innovation-led growth and reaching the full potential of women as contributors of economic growth.  The DTI’s year-long plans also aim to complement and heighten the impact of the country’s strategic priorities and deliverables for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

ASEAN, as an economic powerhouse, is now the third largest market in the world with over 620 million people, the third largest economy in Asia, and the seventh largest economy in the world with a combined Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 2.3 trillion dollars.
