Visa for Journalist, Media Crew, Production Team

The Philippine Embassy informs the public that, effective 20 March 2020 and until further notice, it is temporarily suspending  all visa issuances. Visa-free privileges, including those pursuant to visa waiver agreements entered into by the Philippines with certain countries, are also temporarily suspended.

All visa applicants are required to make a prior appointment via email. This will enable the Embassy to advise if the applicant is eligible to be granted a Philippine visa.

Send your request, together with the application form and the documentary requirements to and indicate “Application for PH Visa” as the subject.

Media crew and production teams include groups who will film or take footages, in any medium including but not limited to film, video, or digital, in the Philippines for purposes of news reporting, documentary, cinema or any form of media production.

Mandatory Requirements:

  1. Personal appearance of the applicant
  2. Accomplished visa application form 
  3. Electronic and machine-readable passport with at least six months validity after the date of departure to the Philippines

Non-machine-readable passports or hand-scripted passports will not be accepted for visa application. Please note that beginning 01 January 2017, foreign nationals will not be allowed entry into Philippine airports and seaports who are not in possession of electronic or machine-readable passports.

  1. Photocopy of passport information page
  2. Recent coloured photograph, size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, taken against a white background
  3. Letter of endorsement from the news agency or production company
  4. CASH payment of visa fee (view here); the Embassy does not accept credit or debit cards, NETS or cheque payments

In addition to the visa application, journalists and production team must transmit a letter to the International Press Center of the Philippines stating the intention to cover a news event or produce a documentary in the Philippines and to request accreditation of the individual applicants. The PCOO’s requirements for Press accreditation are:

  1. For each applicant, an accomplished IPC application form
  2. For each applicant, 3 coloured photographs, size 2 inches x 2 inches, taken against a white background
  3. Photocopy of each applicant’s passport information page of and visa page bearing the latest arrival date in the Philippines.
  4. List of applicants and respective designations
  5. List of equipment (for assistance in customs clearance and release of equipment).
  6. Respective flight details of the applicants
  7. Itinerary of news coverage or videography
  8. Synopsis or storyline of the documentary
