Announcement on Voter’s ID
Posted on Thursday, 11 March 2010
Please be informed that the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has temporarily suspended the printing of OAV IDs. COMELEC has emphasized, however, that the absence or lack of the Voter’s ID should not be a hindrance to the right of suffrage.
Therefore, as long as the voter’s name is included in the Certified List of Overseas Absentee Voters (CLOAV) for Singapore, and provided further that he or she is able to present a valid Philippine passport and Singapore identification card (PR card, E-Pass, S-Pass, Work Permit, Student Pass or Long Term Social Visit Pass), he /she will be allowed to vote.
Please be informed further that the mode of voting in Singapore is personal. This means that registered Overseas Absentee Voters should come over to the Philippine Embassy located at No. 20 Nassim Road, Singapore 258395, to vote.
Kindly note that the election period shall run for 30 straight days from 10 April 2010 to 10 May 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except on the first day when it will open at 8:00 a.m. and the last day when it will close at 6:00 p.m.
The Embassy encourages registered voters to cast their ballots early to avoid long queues.
